We are in the rainy season here in Thailand now, and it can be quite hot and humid here at times. Heard that in Norway it has been pretty wet for the past week as well, with some severe flooding.
We have started up our school in Northern Thailand again after the summer break (which is in April/May in Thailand) and we have made some changes this year.
News from our school
News from school in northern Thailand is that we have now started one more school for the Shan children. Two of the reason for this was that our school car was getting very full, and it also gives more Shan kids the opportunity to get some teaching.
Last week we talked about maybe having schools at four places, but for different reasons, as it is much work for the staff, we were not able to do this at this time. Therefore, it is only two places we have school now, but it is possible that we will have several locations in the future.
For about three weeks ago, our team built the new and simple school on a rice field. (See the image above and the first image to the right.) On this rice field many of our earlier students live, and when the school started for a about a week ago, we had over thirty students there. Around ten of them were new. Because we had planned to have several groups, the group on the old school, was very small. They were only five students and two teachers there.
When I visited them last week, they where a bit discouraged because they were so few. But on Friday our staff found out that we should only have two groups, so it would be more children on the old school again. When I visited them on Monday there were about 25 students there, and there were some very happy old students and teachers. (See image at on the right.)
We also have a school on Sunday mornings now at the old school, and we have about 11 students there. All together we reach out to about 70 Shan children each week. (then we have not included our house churches)
